Apo Island has a best product to be proud of, this product is a big help for their daily living and daily needs of the community.
They make a mat weaving which they call as Yoga mat.
This hand-woven mat is made of all natural and durable romblon leaf- a native to the Philippines and used as the material of choice for mats. Each of the mats is carefully and measures approximately by 183x60cm; it was the standard of the yoga mat size.
Their yoga mat also is import to the other country like in the Netherlands.

General Information about this beautiful Apo Island

The island is celebrated their fiesta in 4 and 5 of April. This festival is called Despratas; in honor of their saint patron San Vicente Ferrer the saint of fisherman. Each of the purok presents a boat decked out in homemade lively Fiesta motifs; the regatta of pump boats is taken around the island.

This island is small and pristine island that offers fantastic snorkeling and some of the best diving in the Philippines. The island has some lovely and scenic view with a magnificent and good assortment of dive sites.
Mostly people that are living in this island are fisherman; fishing is their main source of income. The island has only one elementary school, two restaurants, one general merchandise store and a small church.
In the island of Apo, there is no electricity, only a generator that provides the electrical power from 6 in the evening till midnight.
There is no running water on the island. The fresh tap water has to be transported from the mainland of Dumaguete.
There are 11 main dive sites and each of them has unique experience for divers. These are the Chapel, Boluarte, Largahan, Rock Point, Sanctuary, Mamsa Point, Kan-u-ran, Coconut, Cogon, and Olo Point.
In Chapel Point you can see a good corals heads, soft corals, sea stars, several sources of Nudibranches, gorgonian, sea fans, whip corals, and basket sponges. Fish like tuna, barracuda, black and white snappers, unicorn fish and trumpet fish are can also be seen in this site.
Rock Point is the site that is normally gets some heavy weather but it has a good fish life. There are also variety of fish can be seen here like the Picasso, triggerfish, black and white snappers, moray Eels, local sharks, and large bump head wrasse.
Mamsa Point is named for its school of jacks. There are some nice gorgonians on the wall and other pelagic species.
Coconut Point has a usual strong current which attracts fish like barracuda, sweet lips, jacks, tuna, unicorn fish, and white tip reef sharks. The slope of the Coconut Point has a variety of soft corals.

The two native style Resorts on Apo Island

There are only two resorts in Apo Island; it is the Liberty’s Lodge and the Apo Island Beach Resort, these two have their own dive center that is facilitative.
The liberty’s Lodge is perched high above the beach and the village, this is the place where the most divers head for. This lodge has nine rooms and all has with electric fans and has a decorated in typical Filipino fashion. It is a unique structure whose central portion is built into a rock wall, that giving impression of being actually carved into it but it was not. Their rooms rate is depends the types of accommodation. They have also a restaurant that has a good design dining space that has a complete view of the beach.
The Apo Island Beach Resort is a white sandy beach and a stylish Spanish mission rooms and cottages that have fan and private cold water bathroom. This resort is known also as Kan-Upe Cove Resort. The Apo Island Resort has a one and a half hectare of cunspoilt coral sand. The resort is built on a cove that facing in two big rocks formations on each side of the U shaped cave. This resort has a total of eight rooms including already the honeymoon suite accommodation that all are overlooking the ocean.

Apo Island, a dream comes true for every diver and everybody who loves nature!

Apo Island is a volcanic that covering 12 hectares inland areas with 7 kilometers off the southeastern tip of Negros Island, and 30 kilometers south of the Negros Oriental capital of Dumaguete City. This island has a land area of 12 hectares and rises to a height of 120 meters above the sea level at highest point. Apo means grandson in the local dialect.
Apo Island is the best diving and snorkeling spot in the Philippines. There are also some gorgeous, white sand beaches and great short walks.
The Apo Island is under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Dauin, Negros Oriental and the island has a population of 745 according to the census in 2007.
There is a marine habitat that around the island and it is a marine reserve area that protected by the National Integrated Protected Area.
The Apo Island has a Marine Reserve and Fish Sanctuary area in the southern corner and it is measure about 15 square meters. This Marine reserve and Fish sanctuary is the most successful and best run marine reserves in the Philippines. This is containing a vital marine breeding ground and is the favorite site among the divers.
Apo Island is can be reached by a 30 minute ride in boat from the village of Malatapay Negros Oriental.
The Apo Island is also known as one of the world’s best community organized marine sanctuaries.
Apo Island also offers a rock climbing, before that you should contact first a local climber who can arrange the mountain treks.
This island is the home in present of over 650 documented species of fish and estimated over 400 species of corals.
Each tourist and visitors had to pay a fee to enter the Apo Island these fees are used to keep the sanctuary clean and in good condition.
